Commercial Manager

As a Commercial Manager in the Management Team of Vopak Chemical Logistics Netherlands you are responsible for sales and business development for the Chemicals & Biofuels terminals in Rotterdam.

Growth of the company's top line is an important part of your role. You maintain crucial relations within the current customer base and actively pursue growth of the customer portfolio. Our customers are located both in the Netherlands and abroad.

Besides submitting proposals, negotiations and deal making, you pursue business development opportunities with existing and potential clients including expansion of our terminal network.

You lead a team of 8 FTE, including Sales Managers and supporting staff. You are closely aligned with the Operations, Customer Service & Planning and Technical teams to ensure service delivery in line with customer expectations.

You are a commercial, persuasive and result-oriented leader. This requires entrepreneurship, stakeholder management and strong leadership skills. 

In anticipation of a future move of the current jobholder we are looking for a Commercial Manager for our Chemicals organization. The Commercial Manager reports to the Managing Director Vopak Chemical Logistics Netherlands.

Your main activities in this role are:

  • Maintaining and  optimizing contacts with existing customers.

  • Continuously expanding the current customer base.

  • Pursue business development opportunities in new products and services

  • Identify expansion opportunities for our terminal network

  • Continuously optimize our commercial processes and contract negotiations.

  • Pro-actively translating the customer requirements towards internal organization and securing the proper implementation.

  • Pro-actively align account management, commercial strategies and opportunities with other terminals in the Vopak network.

  • Continuously professionalize the after sales process, including complaints, claims handling and debtors control.

  • Participate in commercial and networking events.

  • Leading the sales team

  • Liaising with other stakeholders in the company to guarantee excellent service levels in line with customer expectations

Your four main missions

  • You'll contribute to sustainable value creation for our company through a well-balanced and managed customer and contract portfolio

  • You'll develop an in-depth understanding of all aspects of our product groups and enhance the value proposition to our clients and be a front-runner in chemical business in Vopak's network

  • You'll develop our business within and outside our terminal boundaries, including internationally. 

  • You'll continuously strive for an optimal cooperation between Sales, Operations and technical department.

Your qualifications and skills as Commercial Manager

You are an experienced individual with thorough knowledge of commercial and project processes. With your entrepreneurial, positive and customer oriented persistent market approach you have strong focus on high-quality service execution and deal-making. Furthermore you have:

  • A Bachelor or Master degree + working and thinking.

  • Successful relevant track record in a commercial leadership position.

  • Entrepreneurial and result-oriented mindset.

  • In Depth knowledge of chemical industry is an advantage.

  • Be able to deal with challenging targets.

  • Good command of Dutch and English languages.

  • Required competences: 'Hunter & farmer', team worker, strong networker and stakeholder management, proactive, initiative and creative, situational leadership, disciplined and eye for details, Stress-resistant and flexible.
