Project Controler
In an increasingly digital world, Vopak’s Global IT department is not only setting but also executing Vopak’s digital transformation strategy on a global scale. As IT Project Controller, a new role created in the GIT Finance & Control team, you will actively guide and support key activities forming part of that strategy.

You will work as part of the GIT Finance & Control team, a team of four people, and report to the Finance Director Global IT. The key is working together with a good team spirit, closely liaising with different stakeholders (eg. Global IT’s management team members, project managers, Vopak Global Shared Service Centre colleagues, Global IT staff, Vopak’s divisional employees) to maintain and improve the procedures and controls for IT projects. Your main goal is to analyze and control the IT capex and opex projects spend (forecasting/budgeting and reporting on actuals) of Vopak globally.

What will you do?

  • Analyze, plan and forecast the IT capex and opex projects spend of Global IT

  • Review the IT spend from local operating companies

  • Report on monthly actuals, quarterly forecast and annual budget process with regards to IT project spend

  • Liaise with Vopak’s Global Shared Service Center (VGSS) with regards to the purchase-to-pay process

  • Provide input for the budgeting and forecasting process of Vopak’s IT spend (capex and opex)

  • Initiate and participate in improvement projects to gain efficiencies (e.g. via robotic process automation, automated workflows etc.) 

  • Improve standardization of the IT project administration process (including internal control environment)

  • Liaise with stakeholders and advice on project related queries


  • An education at HBO or University level in Accounting, Economics, Finance or Business Administration (or a related subject)

  • Experience (3-5 years) in accounting and administration; preferably with experience in a project control role

  • Strong affinity with IT projects and systems 

  • Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and financial / project administration systems (e.g. Oracle Cloud)

  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills

  • Proactive attitude, great analytical skills and willingness to improve planning, processes and reporting related to IT projects

  • Analytical and conceptual thinking, adaptable to change and develop new situations (i.e. not keeping to the ‘as-is’), clear communication skills

  • Strong team player, good problem solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and writing skills in English 

  • Experience with working in an international environment
