This is a working (learning) internship.

What will you do as an Safety & Sustainability Intern?
During your internship at Vopak you will be part of the Safety & Sustainability team. A team consisting of SHE specialists and Sustainability engineers. You will work on the incident management system for which the Global Safety & Sustainability department is responsible, with an emphasis on improving insights on incidents, failed barriers and the human factors related to them, including trying out some new AI tooling. Through the guidance of our SHE specialists, we will work towards independently carrying out research work and create improvements during the course of the internship, with which you will actually contribute to improving our digital SHE solutions and safety performance.

• An internship allowance (€500 for HBO per month based on 40 hours working) plus travel expenses.

• In this position you will work 32-40 hours per week, partly from our head office in Rotterdam and partly from home.

What do we expect from you as an Safety & Sustainability Intern?

• You are currently enrolled in a college (HBO) education program in Process / personal safety and SHE (management) systems like Enablon, Bow-tie or a related field;

• You are currently enrolled in Dutch university and remain enrolled till the end of your internship period;

• You are available part- or full-time for at least 6 months;

• You have strong verbal and written English communications skills;

• You have affinity with IT Technology 

• You are a people person who likes being involved with multiple projects with various stakeholders;

• Good academic records

What are the responsibilities?

• Analysis of safety performance and provide suggestions for the organization to improve. Creating visuals to improve communication and understanding of the output like using infographics on statistics, types of injuries, causes. Where possible test AI tools to assist. 

• Analyze incident data, make standardized reports and provide system improvements (incident management system) to ensure the incident data provides valuable insights and added value for the company. 

• Implementation of barrier management into our SHE management system (creation / updating bow-tie, identifying which barriers are in place, which categories types of barriers are these and which incident events should they prevent). By building this, as an organization we want to identify and verify which barriers fail / are effective and where to focus on to improve our safety performance.

• Create awareness / training content on safety / SHE systems.
