We are looking for a Business Controller for Vopak’s Europe & Africa Division. This division consists of 16 terminals in 4 countries spanning two continents, has an asset base of over 2 billion and revenues over 0.5 billion per year.
What will be your role?
As Business Controller, you are going to be a member of the Finance & Control team. You act as business partner towards the organization and will contribute to finance activities including reporting, governance & control and advising on financial matters. You support the realization of business objectives in the short and long term. You are involved in various projects, from early development up to final investment decision. Your reporting line is to the Finance & Control Director Vopak Europe & Africa.
Other key tasks are:
Continuously improving processes and (financial) performance. Act as change ambassador, fully embracing the Ascend transformation objectives;
Managing the budgeting and forecasting process of the division;
Involvement in project control and updates;
Involvement in business development and M&A projects;
Creating insight in processes by executing planned internal controls that are focused on detecting and advising improvement opportunities besides reducing risks;
Managing the planning and reporting cycle of Finance and Control aspects and making sure we are compliant with the IFRS- and Vopak guidelines (including tax, treasury, insurances, sustainability and audit);
Liaise with internal and external (financial) stakeholders and advice on queries;
Lead the division business control team and develop employees so that they are capable of realizing the department’s objectives.
Academic level with a background in finance / business economics
At least 7 years relevant work experience, including business development and/or M&A exposure
Strong analytical skills and conceptual capabilities
Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills
Proactive attitude, great analytical skills and willingness to improve planning, processes and reporting
Analytical and conceptual thinking, adaptable to change and develop new situations (i.e. not keeping to the ‘as-is’), strong communication skills
Strong team player, good problem solving skills
Excellent verbal and writing skills in English
Experience with working in an international environment
Eager to take ownership and learn more
Fluent in English and good writing skills
